Cash in a Wink appears to be an unlicensed lender. They show a copy of some Delaware lending regulations but they do not show any licenses. A search on the State of Delaware's Department of State does that they appear to be a Delaware registered corporation. This does not mean that they are licensed to lend in Delaware.

According to the BBB site they settled in 2012 with the State of California for $20,000 " for failure to be properly licensed for their industry and business transactions in the State of California. Further, they illegally charged unauthorized or excess fees for their services. A Desist and Refrain order was issued."

They currently have an A+ Better Business Bureau rating with no complaints. The account appears inactive. When we reviewed them in 2014 they had an F rating and 122 complaints. It appears the account has been reset or something.

Their website does show their fees upfront. We like their transparency. The fees are very high. The site does not support encryption. This seems very risky.

In general, The Payday Hound prefers state-licensed lenders.
